About

This is the website of Kath O’Reilly. I am an Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

I am an infectious disease epidemiologist, who specialises in the use of statistical and mathematical models for infectious diseases. My interests are in polio eradication, many other infectious diseases, and how surveillance and control options should be utilised to control diseases. I am an active member of the Centre for Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases (CMMID) within LSHTM.

This website is here to be a place where I can write about all things related to infectious diseases, public health, and statistics. While peer-reviewed publications are an essential output of being a scientist, there is a lot that happens between having an idea and a finished article that contributes to scientific inquiry. The aim of the website and blog posts is to be a public place where general musings are placed, and an opportunity for others to comment.

I have no conflicts of interests to register. I am full-time employed by LSHTM and no other body. I very occasionally receive payment for work such as examining PhD theses and reviewing grants. I have no shares in anything. I am not currently a member of any political party.
